Student Council Saving Lives

The Goodridge Student Council has had a very busy year. In addition to 200+ hours of volunteering throughout the community, the Student Council is also co-sponsoring a community blood drive. This is the second blood drive the students have co-hosted this year, and they are anticipating another great turnout this spring.

“It’s great that we are able to do this again in the spring because last year so many of our athletes were unable to donate due to our advancement in football playoffs”, says John Wilibeski III, student coordinator of this spring’s blood drive. “We are really working hard to get more students signed up to donate and save lives, and it has been a great experience for our student council members as well” Wilebski says.

The Goodridge Student Council Blood Drive is set for Friday, May 10th from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM in the small gym. If you would like to volunteer to donate blood, make your appointment to give blood at www.UnitedBloodServices.org or by calling Becky Carlson at 218-378-4134. With each donation, donors receive a free total cholesterol test and earn points in United Blood Services’ Hero in Me rewards program.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional high/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian. For more information, visit www.UnitedBloodServices.org.
